Just for Kids

Our Kids' Discovery Days (KDD) takes place once a month on a Saturday or Sunday.  Staff and volunteers offer instruction and hands-on activities for every program.  Bring your child to a KDD and have them discover the wonders of nature, first-hand.

KDD-BECOME A WEATHER WIZ!
Saturday, March 24th 10 am—12 pm (approx.)

Join Sarah “Sunflower” Canfield as you observe the weather and clouds, play games, sing songs, and fly simple kites! Approximately 3-mile easy hike. Children 1-year + welcome. All- terrain stollers and backpacks ok. Steady rain cancels. Please call for meeting location (Pilot Hill area) and to sign up. Free-Donations encouraged.

KDD-NATURE KIDS: FAMILY NATURE TALK AND NATURE WALK
Saturday, April 14th 10 am – 12 pm
Kenny Ballentine is a parent of two, an avid hiker, and the director of the new documentary film, Nature Kids. This event will include a brief discussion on the importance of getting kids outside and reconnected to the natural world, a free nature craft, and a guided nature walk. Parents, children and family members of all ages are encouraged to participate. All ages welcome. Please call for meeting location (Coloma area) and to sign up. Free- Donations towards the Nature Kids film are encouraged.

KDD-LITTLE HIKES FOR LITTLE FOLKS
Saturday, May 12th 10 – 11:30 am
Enjoy learning about our local habitat as we ramble down the easy trails of the Dave Moore Nature Area to the American River, enjoying plants and animals along the way. Tracy Celio, ARC volunteer, will lead this fun, family hike of approximately 1 mile. All ages welcome. No strollers please. Baby packs ok. Contact ARC to sign up and for meeting location (Lotus area). Free-Donations encouraged.

 

Homeschool Tuesdays

Our homeschool programs take place on the third Tuesday of the month during the school year calendar.  Programs begin at 10:30am and typically last 90 minutes.  Check out our upcoming schedule for the rest of this school year.
