School Programs and Field Trips
Engaging, Interactive, and Hands-on
We offer environmental education programs for Elementary, Middle, and High School students year-round. All programs are based on California Science and Social Science Content Standards.
Elementary School Programs
Choose from a variety or programs for pre-K and elementary school students. Programs take place at the American River Nature Center in Coloma or at your school.
Nature Connections
ARC offers field trip programs at our Nature Center in Coloma. Teachers also have the option of scheduling a 1-hour presentation in the classroom.
NEST: Nature Exploring for Students and Teachers
Experience a more in-depth nature exploration at your school. An ARC educator visits the classroom once a week over a three-week period.
Nature Bowl
A fun, cooperative team competition for 3rd to 6th graders. Our Nature Center hosts a semi-finals competition every spring.
Home School Tuesday
Join other home school students on the 3rd Tuesday of the month for a science and environmental education program. Each month we feature a special class for students and parents at our Nature Center in Coloma.
Middle and High School Programs
The upper grades programs incorporate service-learning projects with a place-based field study. Students have the opportunity to explore public lands throughout El Dorado County.
