Giving Garden Workday – December 16th

Saturday December 16th from 10am - 2pm. The Giving Garden is a part of the historic Wakamatsu farm where volunteers assist in seasonal plantings, weed management, mulch application, fruit tree pruning, crop and orchard fertilizing, seed germination, plant propagation as well as fruit and veggie harvesting. During the winter we aim to plant cover crops to protect our precious soils from wind and rain erosion. Magnolia Ranch hike

Saturday, December 16th 10am-1pm Named for the small long-gone village of Magnolia that once resided along Greenwood Creek, this beautiful riparian prairie now offers easy hiking trails along the river and around its hills. Donna Orth will lead this dogs and kid-friendly 3-mile hike to the river and back. Contact ARC to sign up and for meeting location (Pilot Hill area). Ridge Walk on ARC’s Cosumnes River Property

Saturday, January 27th 9-11am     The Van Noord property, acquired by ARC in 2002, is an 80 acre parcel with a ridge running down the center and steep drop-offs on either side. The beautiful North Fork of the Cosumnes River crosses one corner of the property. Larry Pagendarm, one of ARC’s volunteer Land Stewards, will lead this walk along the ridgeline for the length of the property with lovely views. Pine Needle Basket Class

Wildfire in the Foothills

Sunday, February 25th 10am-3pm     Scott Vail, ARC Board member and firefighter, will lead a hike to a wildfire that burned on both sides of the South Fork of the American River this summer.
